I've seen the immense value of bringing people from differing
political spectrums together in a setting that values relationships &
mutual respect and I think there is an opportunity for believers from
many walks to come find common ground and also understand and respect
wage makes us difference.
I too often withdraw into my own insular circles where tend to think
in terms of "Us & Them".
Assertion 1: Having trusted in Jesus Christ's sacrifice and
redirection as forgiveness of sin - We are all the body of Christ.
Assertion 2: There will be doctrinal issues we don't agree on. That
should be valued not divisive. Let us learn what makes us different.
Assertion 3: Through our common beliefs is there a way to come
together and serve. Warming shelters and feeding hungry people are
universal spiritual matters.
At the very least when we hear the terms that describes the others we
know we have an open dialog with a friend that helps us understand and
move forward without denouncing one another.
We all hold to truths we consider non-negotiable but I don't think
ignorance is one if them.
Is it time to take "Politics on The Porch" into more important
spiritual matters.
Hey we might even discover some friends.
(Pardon the rough draft it's late and the Ambien is kicking in. I just
wanted to toss this out there.)
Seeking His Way, Seeking my Humbleness, and Compassion to my brothers
and sisters in Christ
